Take an idea and give it meaning.
My job is a lot of fun. I’m fascinated by storytelling, and as a film editor I often wear multiple hats to help shape an idea into something meaningful. I have to think like a writer as I structure scenes, a director as I assess performances and build a cohesive arc for characters, a cinematographer as I choose images to marry aesthetic with desired emotion, and often a composer as I balance the tone of a scene with music. Of course, it’s a collaborative and often humbling process, but when everything comes together, it feels a bit like magic.
“What they finally remember is not the editing, not the camerawork, not the performances, not even the story - it’s how they felt.” - Walter Murch
